What we like about this Thermaltake LCGS View 7880S-380 gaming PC
Excellent card for 4K gaming
The RTX 5080 is one of the best graphics cards you can buy right now, especially if you’re after something for 1440p at very high fps on ultra settings, and impressive 4K performance. It’s built on Nvidia’s new Blackwell architecture, which means you’re getting access to new and improved GDDR7 memory, which is faster and has higher bandwidth than GDDR6, alongside new AI features, such as DLSS 4 and MFG. This card is a big step up from the likes of the RTX 5070 Ti when it comes to 4K, and would be our go-to if RTX 5090 builds are outside of your budget.
One of the best gaming CPUs
The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is still one of the top gaming CPUs you can get, despite it being released a while back. It features 8 cores, 16 threads, a boost clock of 5GHz, and a huge 96MB L3 cache. As we’ve said a million times before, it’s this 3D V-cache that makes this an excellent option for gaming, as it allows for much more data to be stored and for it to be accessed much faster than your typical processor. This reduces frame latency significantly and improves overall gaming performance.
Good amount of RAM and decent storage
32GB of DDR5 is a solid amount of RAM, and will help with both running multiple applications at once, and when you’re playing asset-heavy games, like simulators and open-worlds, for example. The SSD you have here is 1TB, which is enough for a fair few large games, plus your other files.
Stylish design
We’re big fans of the panoramic view designed here, with its front and side tempered glass panels. Plus, there’s a good amount of aRGB on the fans, RAM, and CPU cooler, which makes this PC particularly eye-catching.
How will this PC perform?
You can read our full review of the RTX 5080 FE to get a more in-depth idea of how this PC will perform, but we’ll share a few highlights from our benchmarks below. Cyberpunk 2077 saw 151fps at 1440p and 68fps with ray tracing. At 4K, it got 72fps and 35fps with ray tracing. This is one of the most demanding games to run, so with other titles, we saw significantly improved framerates, even with ray tracing. Doom Eternal, for example, hit 191fps at 4K with ray tracing enabled. When it comes to DLSS, this card can effectively push framerates and performance much higher. Shadow of the Tomb Raider got 91fps at 4K with ray tracing, which was then boosted to 181fps at the same settings with DLSS performance.
Who’s this deal for?
This PC is going to be very good for anyone who’s interested in gaming in 4K, or wants to game at 1440p at very high framerates and settings. Pairing this with a 4K monitor would be our first choice; however, a 360Hz 1440p QD-OLED display would also be a great pairing, too. If you’re looking for something more for hybrid usage, like if you’re a video editor or working in 3D, we’d recommend going for something with an Intel CPU instead. These tend to have higher core and thread counts, and perform very well for multitasking and demanding creative work.
