If you’re looking to put together a gaming PC on a budget, you’ll need budget or mid-range components to deliver the maximum value while keeping it pocket-friendly. That being said, we spotted this Ryzen 9 5950X processor, which has a 13% discount despite Prime Day being over.

It is the flagship processor of the Ryzen 5000 lineup and requires an AM4 motherboard. So, you’ll be investing in an older platform, and after the 5950X, there isn’t a processor to upgrade to. However, it is capable enough to be paired with solid graphics, and for a budget gaming PC, it’ll more than get the job done.

Ryzen 9 5950X

16-core, 32-thread, unlocked desktop processor, Socket AM4, 4.9 GHz Max Boost, 72 MB of cache

Why we like this deal

  • High number of cores and threads: This processor has 16 cores and 32 threads based on the Zen 3 architecture. The base and boost clock speeds of this CPU are 3.4 GHz and 4.9 GHz, respectively. So, whether it is gaming, 3D modeling, rendering animations, or more, this processor should be able to handle anything you can throw at it.
  • Low power consumption: Despite being a powerhouse, it has a TDP of 105W. However, you can overclock the processor for even better performance, but that will also increase the power draw and heat generation. That being said, it shouldn’t be a lot, seeing how it has a low TDP to start with.
  • Pocket-friendly: This processor was released in 2020, so it is a 5-year-old option, but that also means that, due to its age, you can get it at a very low price, and this is what this deal is offering. So, excellent performance without burning a hole in your pocket.

Should you get this deal?

If you have a strict spending limit but want a processor that can handle intense gaming and working sessions, this deal is an excellent one, as the Ryzen 9 5950X has everything you’ll need to have a smooth and stable experience. I’m personally using the Ryzen 5 5600X, and it isn’t giving me any trouble, so the 5950X is a high-end CPU and should be able to handle anything you can throw at it.
