Finally, the price of the impressive Ryzen 9 9900X3D has dropped significantly on Amazon, thanks to a deal that has cut its price by 17% and brought it down from $599.99 to $499.00. According to price tracking data, this is the first time it’s dropped below $500 on Amazon, and a welcome sight for anyone looking for an X3D processor with much better productivity performance than some of the more gaming-oriented options on the market.

What we like about the Ryzen 9 9900X3D

The Ryzen 9 9900X3D is a bit of a powerhouse when it comes to both gaming and multi-core performance, and offers a more versatile alternative for hybrid usage to the likes of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which we’d say is one of the best and most popular gaming CPUs on the market right now. The 9900X3D has a higher 12-core and 24-thread count, a very high boost lock speed of 5.5GHz, and a massive 128MB L3 cache, beating the 9800X3D’s 96 MBs.

Of course, it’s the innovative 3D v-cache that makes this type of CPU popular with gamers. It essentially ‘stacks’ caches on top of each other to greatly increase the amount of data that can be stored on them for quick access. This massively reduces frame latency and results in enhanced gaming performance, especially at higher frame rates.

The consensus with the Ryzen 9 9900X3D was that it was a great CPU when released, but awkwardly priced at $599.99, especially with much higher core count options not too much more expensive, but far superior. At $499.99, it’s far more appealing in our view, and would pair well with some of the best graphics cards on the market, like the RTX 5080 or RTX 5090, for instance.
