Key specs and features of this Samsung 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 gaming monitor

Screen

This Samsung monitor is very unique as it’s a dual-UHD display, which means it’s essentially two 4K screens merged together side-by-side. This means that the pixel density is incredibly high on this monitor, resulting in exceptional clarity even at this scale. It’s a mini-LED panel, so what you’re getting here is something very bright with excellent color and contrast. In fact, it has a VESA DisplayHDR 1000 rating, which blows even some of the best gaming monitors out of the water when it comes to HDR performance, and indicates that it has an incredibly high peak brightness (1000 nits in this case). On top of that, it has a 240Hz refresh rate, with an impressive 1ms GTG response time, both of which are ideal for fast-paced and smooth, blur-free gaming.

Technology

This monitor has AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which means it can adapt its refresh rate to your GPU’s framerate. This eliminates stutter and screen tearing, but the Pro version also has the bonus of being able to handle HDR content very well. It also features picture-by-picture functionality, which allows you to view video from two sources simultaneously in their native resolution, and chat, watch, and game, all at the same time. Amazing for productivity, streaming, and more.

Design features

This monitor features all the ports you’d need for a high-end setup, like HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1, plus there’s a USB Hub to reduce desk clutter. Its ergonomic stand allows you to swivel, tilt, and adjust the height of this monitor to the optimal position for you, which is great if you don’t fancy shelling out on a heavy-duty monitor arm. And there’s also CoreSync and Core Lighting on this monitor, which can either be programmed yourself or synced with whatever is happening on screen, greatly increasing immersion.

Considerations before buying

First off, this monitor is absolutely massive, so it really is only for those who have the space. But to get your money’s worth, we’d really recommend only those with very high-end 4K gaming PCs to go for it, or very serious content creators who need high resolution and loads of space to work with. In terms of the type of level of PC that would go well with this monitor, you’re probably looking at an RTX 5080 build or above. It’s a serious investment, but if you’re going for ultimate gaming immersion, plus a productivity powerhouse, then this could be a great choice for you.
