This is the world’s best gaming processor, but when we tested it for our 9800X3D review, we saw it delivering the same performance as the Ryzen 7 9700X in productive workflows, which is simply incredible. We coupled this CPU together with the RTX 4070 Ti and got 334 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 while the 9700X managed 313 FPS.

However, in synthetic testing, it delivered 8,523 points in the CPU-Z multi-core test, which increased to 8,689 points with PBO enabled. For comparison, the 9700X churned out 8,794 points, and why this is such a big deal is because the “X” processors were always better for productivity compared to the “X3D” processors. All of that changed when the 9800X3D dropped, and this means that you won’t have to sacrifice gaming performance or productivity as you’re getting both in the same package.

RTX 5080

The Thermaltake View 9880 features the RTX 5080, which, combined with the 9800X3D, should deliver excellent performance. These components adequately complement each other, and while it isn’t clear which variant is in this gaming PC, the picture shows an MSI RTX 5080. We’ve reviewed the ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5080 OC and the RTX 5080 Founders Edition.

The ASUS model had better output due to being overclocked, but there wasn’t a massive difference between the two. In Doom Eternal, at 4K, the ASUS RTX 5080 and FE managed 296 and 265 FPS, respectively. In Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, we got 102 and 98 FPS while the gap lessened even more in AC Mirage with 108 and 106 FPS.

So, this GPU has no issues handling 4K gaming natively, and its AI output is also excellent. You can read more about it in detail in our in-depth review.

Good storage and memory

This gaming PC comes with a 1TB NVMe SSD and 32GB of DDR5 RAM running at 6,400 MT/s. This is a pretty decent combination to start with, and while we don’t think you’ll need to upgrade the RAM, more storage space is always better. Once again, it isn’t clear which motherboard will be in this PC, but it could be the ASRock B850M Pro-A WiFi as seen in the pictures. This motherboard has three M.2 slots, so you should have two available to expand the storage space.

Other components

To complete the package, this PC comes with 7 x 120mm ARGB fans, a 360mm Thermaltake ARGB AIO cooler, and an 850W 80 Plus Gold ATX 3.0 power supply unit. These components should ensure that everything continues running smoothly.

Should you get this gaming PC?

For the discounted price, you’re getting solid hardware that should be able to tackle anything you put in front of it. The 9800X3D is the most sought-after CPU for a reason, and the RTX 5080 is the second-best GPU in the RTX 50 series lineup. Besides that, it has nice aesthetics, comes with an AIO cooler, pre-installed Windows 11, and should prove to be a worthwhile investment in the long run.
