This AMD Ryzen 9 processor is way more appealing at its current reduced price

Table of Contents
The excellent Ryzen 9 9900X is sitting just above its record-low price on Amazon right now, making it a brilliant time to go for it. This CPU pack a punch for both gaming and productivity, and would suit high-performance AM5 builds very well indeed.
While on Amazon this CPU is listed as down from $499.00 to $369.00, according to price trackers we’ve seen it gradually tumbling down in price since its release. As of lately, it hovers between $380 and $400, which may not be as much of a saving, but is still something considering this is a high-end processor.

What we like about the Ryzen 9 9900X
The Ryzen 9 9900X was released back in August 2024, and we put it through its paces in our testing lab. In our review, we were impressed with its efficiency and decent uplift on single core performance, but we did find other options to be better value for money at the time. That’s why this deal is a real winner and makes this processor much more appealing from a price to performance standpoint, especially if you’re looking to kick off a powerful AM5 build for less.
- Core CPU specs: 12 cores, 24 threads, 64MB L3 cache, 5.6GHz boost clock and 120W TDP.
- Great for gaming and efficient: Single core performance stands out here as does its large L3 Cache, but it’s also very efficient all things considered.
- AM5 platform: Pair this with an AM5 motherboard and combine it with DDR5 RAM and Gen5 SSDs for maximum performance.
- Works well with powerful GPUs: Check out our top GPU picks for this CPU for great pairings for your build.

Is it the best time to buy?
As you can see from the graph above, this CPU has rarely been close to its list price of $499.00, so we’d advise taking any seemingly massive discounts with a pinch of salt. It is currently a good time to buy, and I’d say it’s going to drop lower around major sales events like Prime Day, but not by enough to wait for in all honesty.
A good way of saving more would be to head for some of the motherboard and Ryzen 9 9900X CPU bundles. Microcenter is the one for these and you can find them on Amazon. Some of these can save you over $100 and get you a decent motherboard with PCIe 5.0 connectivity for way less than you’d think.
