There’s a massive 34% discount on one of LG’s finest gaming monitors on Amazon, that has knocked its price down from $899.99 to $596.99, which isn’t that far off its record lowest price, too. This monitor is something genuinely special, delivering on peformance, versatility, and style. Better yet, for the price, you’re getting even more bang-for-your-buck. The big ‘selling point’ is this monitor’s dual mode resolution, which allows you to switch between 4K, 240Hz and FHD, 480Hz. It also features FreeSync Premium Pro, which is designed to specifically enhance HDR gaming, all the while reducing screen tearing, and compensating for framerate drops, too. It even boasts a VESA DisplayHDR 600 rating. From a design perspective, it’s absolutely stunning, with super sleek finishing, a small, space saving footbase, and super narrow bezels. For the price, this is pretty much the ultimate monitor to pair with a high-end gaming PC, and as good for gaming as it is for content creators, too.

Key features of this LG 27G850A-B 27-inch Ultragear Gaming Monitor

Dual mode

Perhaps the biggest standout feature of this monitor is its dual mode functionality, which allows you to switch between 240Hz/ 4K and 480Hz/ 1080p. This is pretty much the ultimate in versatility, and designed for those who want the crisp detail of 4K for more graphically demanding games, and something that will allow for super high fps for competitve play.

Nano IPS Black and HDR 600

This monitor has a VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, which means it’s had to pass a few benchmarks with color, contrast, and brightness. This rating puts it on the upper-end when it comes to picture quality, so you’re getting something bright, with excellent 98% DCI-P3 color coverage, and with deep blacks for a more lifelike viewing expeirence. On top of that, this monitor has an advanced IPS panel, Nano IPS Black, which is designed for deeper balcks and better contrast than the typical IPS panel. This is excellent for HDR content.

1ms response time, FreeSync Premium Pro, and G-Sync Compatible

The perfect storm when it comes to reducing ghosting and motion blur. Notably, you’ve got AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which is the top-tier of AMD’s adaptive sync technology. Premium Pro has Premium’s Low Frame Compensation, but also adds support for HDR content. That’s essential for monitors like these which are designed with HDR gaming in mind.

Switch App

This monitor feratures Switch App, which allows you to effortlessly multitask for gaming, streaming, or work. You can split your screen into six sections using this app, and even launch video call s with a single hotkey. It’s yet another level of versatility not found in your standard 27-inch monitors.

Things to consider

To be honest, for the price, this monitor is a big win in our books, but you may want to consider other options if you’re looking to spend less. There are some excellent ASUS ROG Strix dual mode monitors which are similiar, but don’t have as higher level of HDR, and these are often reduced on Amazon, too. These would be a good option to go for if you want the versatility of dual mode, but still want to keep costs closer towards to lower-mid range.
