iBUYPOWER Slate MESH Gaming PC – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GPU
What we like about this iBuyPower gaming PC
Excellent mid-range graphics card
The RTX 5070 is the best graphics card if you’re looking to grab something decent for 1440p, but without breaking the bank. It features 12GB of new and improved GDDR7 RAM, 6144 CUDA cores, a 192-bit bus, and base and boost clocks of 2325 MHz and 2512MHz. It’s a 50-series card, so you’re getting some improvements over the RTX 4070. This card is built on Nvidia’s new Blackwell architecture, which features faster and higher bandwidth GDDR7 VRAM, and new AI capabilities, including DLSS 4 and MFG. These can both be used to push frame rates past what’s possible with just pure rasterization, and they can also make gameplay look much smoother, too.
Excellent 14th Gen Intel processor
The Intel Core i7 14700F is a very powerful and versatile processor to have in your build, and great if you’re planning on using it for gaming, productivity, and creativity. It has a very high 20-core and 28-thread count, a base clock speed of 2.1 GHz, and a high boost clock frequency of 5.4GHz, with a decent-sized 33MB L3 cache. It’s widely seen as one of the best value CPUs you can get if you’re looking for a great price-to-performance ratio, and in our review, we found it to be super efficient, excellent for gaming, and especially good for creativity and productivity.
Decent amount of RAM and storage
This build features 32GB of DDR5 RAM, with 52000MHz memory speeds, and a decent-sized 1TB SSD. The RAM is more than enough for multitasking and running games with large asset libraries, while the 1TB of storage is enough to house around 8 massive AAA games, and still have room for your other files. We’d upgrade to 2TB at least, though, if you plan on using this PC for hybrid usage.
How will this PC perform?
We’ll use our ASUS TUF RTX 5070 GPU review to give you an idea of what to expect here. Since we don’t think this card is best used for 4K gaming, but rather 1440p, we’ll focus on this resolution instead. Starting with something challenging, Cyberpunk 2077, the 5070 impressed with a solid 108fps at 1440p, and 45fps with ray tracing. Doom Eternal benchmarks were impressive, too, coming in at 316fps at 1440p and 213fps with ray tracing. Even games that are notorious for being demanding on VRAM did well. Indiana Jones: The Great Circle, for example, was able to get 152fps at 1440p.
Who’s this deal for?
For $1,619.99, this is bang in the mid-range when it comes to 50-series prebuild prices, and we think it’s a great value for money if you’re after something very capable at 1440p. The VRAM is a limiter here, of course, so if you wanted something a bit more punchy for 4K, we’d recommend going for an RTX 5070 Ti, or even an RX 9070XT if you want better value, but last-gen RAM.
