I’ve written about this monitor countless times over the years and I know it’s a very popular choice for many. It has pretty much everything you need for a more affordable setup, and is super versatile. Here’s a quick breakdown of some of the key standout features and specs to arm you with some more information before making your decision.

What you need to know about this monitor
- 27-inch QHD screen – this is the ideal size for 1440p as it’s not too big that it starts reducing pixel density. What that essentially means is that image quality tends to reduce if you make the area the pixels have to fill larger. That’s why 4K monitors are often bigger screens, while 1080p monitors are typically 24- 27 inches. This size screen is also the most versatile for gaming, as it does put you at a disadvantage when playing competitive fps.
- HDR 10 compatibility – this is very good to see at this price point, and not always the case. This means that you can game in HDR should you wish, which to be honest is a god-send. I’ve tried playing more graphically intense games without it and it really detracts from the experience, making everything seem very ‘flat’ in comparison. At this price range, this is a massive win.
- 99% sRGB color – so this is pretty good, but if you’re using it for design, I’d look elsewhere. For gaming and watching content, everyday use and so on it’ll look great.
- 144hz with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync – 144hz means it can handle up to 144fps essentially, which is great for fast paced games. It has the lowest level of adaptive sync technology, but that’s not a terrible thing at this price range. It will still be able to reduce screen tearing effectively.
- Great design – pretty iconic design from LG to be honest, and functional too. The base stand could be a little smaller, but the adjustable stand saves you from having to buy a separate one, and from the back it actually looks pretty good with the red detailing. Win, win, win.
Is it the best time to buy this monitor?
For this, we’ll take a look at camelcamelcamel which will show us the product’s pricing history.
So, in short – yes. It’s very near its lowest price ever, but has been gradually dropping for a while now. I think the Spring Sales should see it drop down to its lowest price again, but that’s based purely on speculation and general trends at this stage. This is a fairly old (but still good) monitor, so if you waited a while its list price may even start to come down too, but I think if you’re keen on it now, I don’t think you’ll be missing any major savings even in the Spring Sale.
