Black Friday GPU deals are coming in hot, and we have spotted a great discount on AMD’s flagship graphics card. As such, if you’ve been looking to get yourself a 4K-capable GPU under $1000, the ASUS TUF Gaming RX 7900 XTX OC Edition is the way to go. Earlier this year, we reviewed this exact card, and it got a 4.5/5 rating from our hardware reviewer, thanks to exceptional performance and great value.

At the time of writing, this graphics card is available on Amazon for $959.99, that’s a solid $140 discount from its original $1,099.99 price tag. Before you go ahead and buy this card, you may want to look into its benchmarks to get a clear idea of how much FPS you can expect from it at 1440p and 4K. To help you out, I’ve discussed the card’s performance below along with its benchmarks from our review.

What does the RX 7900 XTX offer?

The Radeon RX 7900 XTX is currently the best gaming graphics card AMD has to offer. The GPU comes with 24GB of GDDR6 of VRAM and 6,144 stream processors that can boost at up to 2615MHz in the OC mode. While not on the level of NVIDIA, you can also expect some fairly decent ray tracing performance out of this card, as it has 96 RT cores.

That’s just numbers on paper, what does this mean in real life? Well, in our dedicated review, we tested this card in nine games at 1440p and 4K resolutions, and all games were played with max/ultra settings. Throughout our tests, the card showed exceptional framerates at 4K. For instance, we got 70 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077, 107 FPS in AC: Valhalla, and 227 FPS in DOOM Eternal. If you’re into competitive gaming at 1440p, the card nails that too, as we saw 363 FPS in Overwatch 2 and 609 FPS in CS:GO.

Let’s not forget, we didn’t enable FSR during our tests. If you’re into story-driven games and want the best performance at 4K, you can also turn on AMD’s FSR and get an extra boost with upscaled visuals, all without worrying about FPS drops (not that you’ll likely face any).

Is the ASUS TUF Gaming RX 7900 XTX deal good value?

Okay, so the performance is definitely there, and it is not something that you should be worried about. For $959.99, this card should be able to handle plenty of AAA titles for the next several years. Along with that, there is also another value-oriented benefit of going with the RX 7900 XTX instead of some NVIDIA equivalent, and that is its power requirement.

Unlike NVIDIA’s RTX cards, which use the newer 12VHPWR power connector and often require upgrading to an ATX 3.0/3.1 PSU, the RX 7900 XTX sticks with the more common 3x 8-pin connectors. This means you can avoid the hassle and expense of a PSU upgrade.

Yes, you can use a 12VHPWR adapter with a traditional PSU to power NVIDIA’s latest cards, but it’s not ideal, as it can lead to stability issues. With the RX 7900 XTX, you can keep your existing setup and enjoy high-end performance without any other upgrades (assuming you already have a capable PSU).

If you’re not sure about the RX 7900 XTX and want to check other options, here are some of the top Black Friday GPU deals our team has found so far:
