A processor is only as good as the motherboard it is on because if the motherboard can’t handle its power requirements, it’ll hold it back. So, if you’re looking for components to put together a high-end PC for gaming and productivity, the MSI MEG X870E Godlike is a board worth looking at.

This is an enthusiast mainboard with an X870E chipset and can support Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 processors. We’ve also tested and reviewed the MSI MEG X870E Godlike in-house, and it is a very powerful board. However, it comes at an eye-watering price, but with this deal, you can save $330 as its price has been cut to $999.99 from $1,329.99.

To see how it’ll perform, we mounted the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and the RTX 3090 on top of it. During gaming, we saw CS2 running with 643 FPS with the 7800X3D getting 59.7W of power. In Cyberpunk 2077, we got 229 FPS with an average PPT of 69.5W. So, the Godlike could easily handle the power requirements of the 7800X3D thanks to its 24+2+1 power delivery design.

Even during synthetic testing, we saw the 7800X3D delivering better numbers compared to when we tested it on the X870 Steel Legend. This was due to the CPU getting more power from the get-go, and that means that if you pair it with processors like the 9800X3D, 9950X, or 9950X3D, you should be able to get extreme performance out of them with the help of this mobo.

Is this motherboard worth it?

If you’re a tech enthusiast and want to push a flagship processor like the 9950X or the 9950X3D to its utmost limit for extreme performance, then this is a solid motherboard as it is built for that. For any other purpose, we wouldn’t recommend getting the motherboard as it comes with a heavy price tag, and you can explore bundles that offer two or three high-end components for less than $999.99.
