After the issues with Intel’s 13th—and 14th-generation CPUs and the lackluster performance of the Ryzen 9000 series, all eyes are on the Intel 15th-generation and Ultra Core processors. There are also questions about the Z890 motherboard’s release date, as that is the high-end chipset for these processors featuring the LGA 1851 socket.
That said, we also got a look at ASRock’s Z890 Taichi Aqua motherboard at this year’s Computex and a list of MSI’s Z890 motherboard lineup before that. So, the partners seem all ready to unleash this chipset; it’s only a matter of time before we see officially release.
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D launches today!
AMD has finally launched the highly anticipated 9800X3D, vowing for gaming CPU supremacy for another year. Below are the latest listings we can find
Prices correct as of November 7th, 2024.
Z890 motherboard release date rumors
The Z890 motherboard chipset could launch on October 24th, according to the latest leaks. It was originally set to launch with Arrow Lake processors on the 17th, but this has since been delayed based on what we’ve seen so far.
A recent report claimed that Intel is preparing to launch its Arrow Lake processors on October 17th and then release the Z890 chipset along with them. There was also news that Arrow Lake will be released a month after the Lunar Lake CPUs, which means we should get a complete look at the Ultra Core processors in September.
So, if you were looking to upgrade from Intel’s LGA 1700 socket processors, you’ll have to wait a bit more. That would be the wise thing to do, as the LGA 1851 socket should support multiple generations of Intel processors, giving you plenty of upgrade options.
Z890 motherboard price speculation
There haven’t been any leaks or official word from partners regarding the price of the Z980 motherboard. However, we can make an informative guess based on previous releases and pricing trends.
The Z790 motherboard prices varied from partner to partner but generally went between $200 – $1,000. So, we can expect similar prices, but seeing how CPU manufacturing prices have risen, we wouldn’t be surprised to see higher chipset prices.
