The Ryzen 7 9800X3D was finally launched yesterday. It is the first CPU in the 9000X3D lineup, offering solid performance and thermal management. However, as demand for it was extremely high, the CPU sold out on popular retailers within minutes, including Amazon, Best Buy, and Newegg. And now, it seems like even some customers who placed their orders on time might not receive their CPUs, as many of these orders have been reportedly delayed or canceled.
9800X3D orders getting canceled or delayed
According to user VoodooRTX on X, they placed an order on Newegg for the 9800X3D, but despite receiving a confirmation, the order was later canceled. PC Builder on X also reported that Walmart was canceling 9800X3D orders shortly after they were placed, likely due to high demand and limited stock. Even user harukaze5719 on X shared that in Korea, some reviewers have reported canceled orders or delayed shipments for the 9800X3D.
We feel that it’s safe to say that the 9800X3D was the most anticipated CPU of this year. The hype for it increased further after the Intel Core Ultra CPUs failed to deliver solid results, which is why the launch numbers were not that great. Since then, everyone has been looking forward to the 9800X3D. AMD officially claimed that the CPU offers around 20% better gaming performance than Intel’s latest Core Ultra 285K, and early reviews confirmed this as well. This further increased the hype for the CPU, and it was expected to go out of stock quickly.
At the moment, we don’t know when the CPU will be back in stock. For now, resellers and scalpers are selling it for absurd prices on eBay and other platforms. While it was launched at $479, we’re seeing it getting listed for around $1,000 by resellers.
Another interesting point to note is that even though the 9800X3D has been launched, its predecessor, the 7800X3D, is still going for around $500. In any case, make sure to bookmark our AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Stock Tracker page, as we’ll update it as soon as it gets back in stock.
