It isn't always possible to bring a bag with you everywhere when travelling, and the Steam Deck is a bit large to just stick in a pocket. The obvious answer to gaming on the go is the smartphone, but most examples either have too many compromises or are a little on the expensive side. Infinix aims to offer an alternative solution with the Infinix GT 30 Pro.

This phone aims to offer a good gaming experience on a smartphone without breaking the bank. It has been designed specifically with gaming enthusiasts in mind, and not only comes with the standard smartphone buttons, but also touch-sensitive shoulder buttons.

Infinix announces GT 30 Pro gaming phone

The most striking thing about the GT 30 Pro is the display. It uses a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultra, a 144Hz AMOLED display. The device is powered by a 5,500mAh battery, which has been created with long gaming sessions in mind. There is the option of a magnetic clip-on fan called the ‘MagCharge Cooler'. This small device not only keeps the phone cool but can also wirelessly charge the phone when connected via USB-C.

The 6.78-inch AMOLED display has a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1080p resolution. These specifications, along with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, make it a good choice for all kinds of gaming.

Along with gaming, the Infinix GT 30 Pro also offers the typical features expected of a modern smartphone. This includes a 13MP selfie camera, 108MP main camera, and 8MP ultrawide camera. While this phone is not fully waterproof, it is IP64 certified and can resist dust and scratches. It runs on Android and “comes with 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security patches”.

The GT 30 Pro is planned to first launch in Myanmar, where the base model with have 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It will be priced at 1,299 MYR, the rough equivalent of $305. A global release date has not yet been confirmed.
