If you’re not aware by now, Chromebooks have taken the market by storm thanks to their extremely competitive price points, offering the firepower of devices far and above others at their level. Acer has been pretty much at the forefront of Chromebook innovation and there’s no surprise they’re at it again, debuting the industries’ first 17-inch model – the Acer Chromebook 317.
Both the Acer Chromebook 317 and Spin 713 variants will be available from June in North America and in EMEA with start prices of $379.99 (€399) and $699.99 (€769).
The Spin 514 will launch in October for North America at a start price of $599.99 and at the slightly earlier date of August in EMEA starting at €549.
The more budget-friendly Chromebook 314 will be available in North America in July starting at $269.99 and in EMEA in August starting at €329.
Exact specifications, prices, and availability will vary by region. To learn more about availability, product specifications and prices in specific markets, head to www.acer.com.
The Chromebook 317 aims to provide users all the workspace they need for enjoying streamed content and getting more done. The industry-first 17.3-inch full HD display features an anti-glare coating and is surrounded by narrow bezels, bringing fantastic immersion to a portable device. The keyboard looks to make typing a joyous occasion with optional backlighting and large touchpad which is complemented with an integrated numeric keypad that simplifies 10-key input for accounting functions.
Inside the machine, there’s the latest Intel® Celeron® processors and Intel® Wi-Fi 6 tech, delivering the performance and connectivity needed by students, businesses and home users alike. There’s up to 10 hours of battery life too, which is always handy, and two full function USB 3.2 Type-C ports, one on either side of the Chromebook, so you can take advantage of that new technology.
James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc. had this to say about the Chromebook 317 and Acer’s impact on the market:
Acer hasn’t only come out and given us an industry first with the Chromebook 317 though, there’s three other fantastic options that they’ve added to their ever-growing arsenal – the Acer Chromebook Spin 713, Acer Chromebook 514, and Acer Chromebook 314, all catering to differing budgets and performance levels.
The 514 is marketed at those who want raw performance but also want to look good in the process. It boasts an aluminium top cover in conjunction with an all-round sleek look and feel. The 11th Gen Intel Core processor delivers maximum power and performance coupled with a 10-hour battery life to keep you going all day long. Other features include a full HD webcam, a fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 6, and a Corning Gorilla Glass touchpad.
The 314 is like the 514’s baby brother providing you a wallet-friendly yet powerful everyday laptop more than capable of most tasks you throw at it. Despite its compact nature, you’ll get a whopping 15 hours off a fully charged battery, perfect for you students who forget to plug that charger in after a lengthy studying session.
The Spin 713 offers up a slightly different approach being a convertible option, allowing you to use it as both a fully functioning laptop and tablet. Again, similar to the 514, you can utilize the processing power of the Intel 11th Gen chip coupled with a 10 hour battery life. The screen uses the newer 3:2 aspect ratio giving you 18% more vertical screen space and a resolution 1.2 times as many pixels than a FHD display.
