“Actually it’s a 320GB card” AMD pokes fun at more RX 9070 series rumors
Table of Contents
The next big thing on AMD’s calendar is the launch of its new RX 9000 series graphics cards. Right now, we understand that this includes two SKUs: the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT. Both of these cards are expected to launch with 16GB of VRAM, though there have been whispers of a 32GB model in the works. That was promptly shut down by AMD, but new rumors soon sprouted.
Further speculation now points towards an ‘RX 9070 XTX’ with 32GB of VRAM. While the naming convention seems to make more sense, AMD’s Frank Azor is again quick to put an end to rumors – this time in a much more humorous fashion.

AMD has been quick to disagree with 32GB GPU rumors
VideoCardz was quick to report on speculation of the “RX 9070 XTX with 32GB memory,” further fuelling the rumors from Chinese forums such as Chiphell and outlet Benchlife. Generally speaking, these are solid sources for leaks and speculation, but AMD doesn’t seem to agree this time.
Frank Azor, Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Gaming Marketing at AMD, responded to the report by sarcastically saying “Actually it’s a 320GB card we are calling the 90700.05XTXT Max”. That should help put an end to all the speculation we’ve seen so far.
With all of that said, AMD has yet to officially deny that a 32GB card is in development – it has only said that “the RX 9070 XT card is not coming in 32GB”. This puts a stop to rumors that there will be a 9070 series gaming GPU with this much VRAM, but it doesn’t rule out something that rivals the RTX 5090’s memory further down the line, or in the workstation sector.
Team Red has pencilled in a date for the unveiling for the 9070 series cards, but you probably shouldn’t expect any 32GB GPUs making an appereance. Either way, be sure to tune into a livestream on the AMD Gaming YouTube channel on February 28th at 8 AM EST.
