Alienware 16 Aurora Gaming Laptop

AC16250-16″ WQXGA 120Hz Display, Intel Core 7-240H Processor, 16GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 8GB Graphics, Windows 11 Home, Onsite Service – Blue

Key features of this Alienware 16 Aurora gaming laptop

Intel Core i7-240H processor and RTX 5050 mobile

First up, you’ve got an excellent CPU, which boasts a decent core and thread count of 10 and 16, a large 24MB L3 cache, and high boost clock speed of 5.2GHz. It’s a good all-rounder processor that’s designed with lighter content creation, FHD gaming, and relatively heavy multitasking in mind. The RTX 5050 mobile is a great entry-level graphics card that’s excellent for fast-paced 1080p gaming. It’s built on Nvidia’s new Blackwell architecture, so you’re getting 4th-gen ray tracing cores, 5th-gen tensor cores, GDDR7 VRAM, and DLSS 4 with Multi-frame generation. Super accessible, but packed with the latest generation components, laptops with these graphics cards are a real win from a price-to-performance standpoint.

16-inch screen

This screen has basically everything you’d need for gaming, video editing, and everyday usage. It’s WQXGA resolution, which, when paired with a smaller screen, looks incredibly crisp. It features a high 120Hz refresh rate for high-framerate gaming, which is good, but not overkill for the RTX 5050’s power. On top of that, it has 100% sRGB, for vibrant color, and 95% DCI-P3 coverage, for accurate video editing. It also has 300 nits of brightness, which is enough for it to be clearly visable in well-lit environments.

High-end design

Alienware, as usual, kicks it out of the park when it comes to design and build quality, and this laptop, despite being a more budget-friendly option, looks as premium as it gets. You’ve got everything from an anodized aluminium lid to a magnesium alloy interior frame, all the way to small, practical features, like a slightly angled front edge, designed for wrist comfort.

RAM and storage

There’s 16GB of DDR5 and a decent-sized 1TB SSD in this build. This is more than enough RAM if you’re using this laptop for lighter creative tasks, general gaming, and relatively demanding multitasking. And the storage is fine for a good handful of games, too.

Things to consider

This would be one of our top gaming laptop picks under $1,000, as it ticks basically every box you can think of, but if you’re looking for similar performance with a better screen for video editing, there are other options worth considering. ASUS ROG Strix laptops have excellent screens that are very bright and have more DCI-P3 coverage, too. They’re more expensive, on the whole, as they also feature a few more bells and whistles, in the form of higher-end processors, refresh rates, and aRGB lighting, but they would be a better choice for more demanding creative workflows. They’re often in the sales, so check out our top picks below to see what else is out there.
