It feels like an age since we got more tidbits on what AMD is cooking up in the CPU field but, as expected, Lisa Su has come out all guns blazing at Computex 2021. If you thought the Ryzen 5000 series processors were over and done with, think again, as AMD has announced two more units for the lineup – the 5600G and 5700G.

These two models differ to the rest of the current lineup as they’re not CPUs and are instead APUs. This means that these chips have integrated graphics, removing the need for you to go out and purchase a separate GPU to slot into your PC. This creates huge benefits for those that want to get their game on but don’t have the cash to buy both a new generation CPU and GPU. It also allows for smaller, more compact PC builds, helping those that have limited space in their homes.

Enough talk though, let’s delve into the two new chips.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600G & Ryzen 7 5700G APU Specs

Ryzen-5000G-performance

Looking initially at the more budget Ryzen 5 5600G, it will feature 6 cores and 12 threads with a base clock speed of 3.9GHz that can be boosted to 4.4GHz when overclocked. It will also detail 16MB of L3 cache and 3MB of L2 cache.

You’re looking at 65W TDP for the 5600G and it boasts AMD’s VEGA 7 iGPU clocked at 1.9GHz and featuring 448 stream processors. This means that it has some serious graphical capabilities and will certainly be enough for casual gaming now and in the future.

If you’re wanting even more raw power, you might want to turn your attention to the Ryzen 7 5700G. This new flagship APU boasts 8 cores and 16 threads and an impressive clock speed of 3.8GHz base with a 4.6GHz boost.

Additionally, you’ll receive 16MB L3 cache and 4MB L2 cache, TDP of 64W, and VEGA8 integrated graphics. For these VEGA8 integrated graphics, you’re looking at 8 CUs and 512 stream processors which will all run at 2.0GHz.
