AMD bundles Monster Hunter Wilds with 9000 & 7000 series hardware, but there’s something missing

Table of Contents
Monster Hunter Wilds is a highly anticipated game for fans of the franchise. Some of them may be looking at the recommended specs for the game and considering a PC upgrade. Thanks to the latest game bundle from AMD, it’s now possible to kill two birds with one stone. This comes just ahead of the new RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT release date.
The bundle includes a Standard Edition of Monster Hunter Wilds covers a range of products. This includes PC components such as CPUs and graphics cards through to laptops. However, something is missing that caught our attention – AMD’s gaming-focused X3D processors.
- Cores: 16
- Threads: 32
- Boost clock speed: 5.7 GHz
- Base clock speed: 4.3 GHz
- L3 Cache: 64 MB
- TDP: 170 W
- Platform: AMD Socket AM5
For CPUs, the 9950X, 9900X, 9700X, and 9600X are included, as are models from the previous generation. Curiously, however, the offer does not encompass any of the X3D chips with 3D V-Cache. Those X3D models are generally considered the best option for gaming, so their exclusion from a gaming bundle is a strange choice.
When it comes to GPUs, the offer includes the Radeon 7900 XTX, 7900 XT, 7800 XT, and 7700 XT. The Radeon 7600 and 7650 GRE are not eligible. There is also no mention of the upcoming RX 9070 models that are set to launch in early March.
Laptops included in the offer are those equipped with Strix Point Ryzen AI 9 CPUs such as the 7000HX and 7000HX3D, as well as the new 8000 series. Ryzen AI Max and Strix Halo laptops are also said to be included, but as of writing only one device, the Asus ROG Z13 Flow met this criteria.

No Ryzen X3D processors are eligible
While this promotion does cover a wide range of gaming hardware, we couldn’t help but notice that no X3D processors made the cut. For AM5 systems, the best value for gamers right now are the 7800X3D and 9800X3D, while there are a couple of options in the 5000 series for users still working with AM4.
We tested Monster Hunter Wilds on an RTX 5080 and Ryzen 7 9800X3D system and it ran great at 4K in our tests. AMD’s Ryzen X3D chips work best in CPU-bound games which can make even better use of the high level of cache embedded in these chips. For example, when we reviewed the 9800X3D, it showed an incredible performance uplift versus the competition in titles such as Counter-Strike 2.
