AMD released its new RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards last week on March 6th, and since then, finding one in stock has been a difficult task. Team Red has already promised restocks in the “coming days and weeks” as it works with GPU partners. Speaking of GPU partners, you may be wondering about an official reference card direct from AMD akin to how Nvidia releases Founders Edition models.

Well, it was already confirmed ahead of launch by Product Management Director Scott Olschewsky that they have “not felt the need” to deliver what they call an MBA (Made By AMD) reference design. However, someone in China has been spotted selling an RX 9070 XT reference card for MSRP.

AMD launches latest Ryzen 9 9950X3D & 9900X3D CPUs!

AMD's highly anticipated Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D chips have finally arrived! Below, we will be listing all the latest listings from the web's biggest retailers.

According to the Chinese outlet UNIKO’s Hardware, someone is selling an AMD reference card of the new RX 9070 XT, posting the card to Chiphell forums. They claim that the card is being sold for MSRP ($599 USD). Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for the partner cards being distributed worldwide, as prices are set to rise despite AMD encouraging retailers to stick to MSRP; these price hikes are starting to be witnessed across popular retailers.

We cannot confirm whether this ‘reference’ card is what the user claims it to be. What we can gather from the photos is that it likely features a three-fan design and is possibly a reference card that AMD shared with board partners to aid with designs for their AIB cards.

Interestingly, during the AMD RDNA 4 and RX 9000 series reveal (video below), what appear to be reference cards (for XT and non-XT) were shown in a render when first introduced by David McAfee during the presentation, and now on the AMD website, though these are dismissed as for “presentation only”.
