When graphics cards geared towards AI and machine learning applications are discussed, it’s usually Nvidia's name that pops up. AMD is aiming to change that, however, with its latest release. The AMD Radeon AI Pro R9700 graphics card is the first professional graphics card based on RDNA 4 architecture.
The Radeon AI Pro label is newly created for this class of graphics cards. The first example, the R9700, uses a blower-style design with a single fan. It has been designed for use in single-server systems and boasts a whopping 32GB of memory. Revealed in AMD’s Computex keynote, Jack Huynh says it is “crafted for professionals who fast, secure, and local AI development”.
AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700
The AI Pro R9700 uses the Navi 48 GPU with a core count of 4096 and the aforementioned 32GB of GDDR6 VRAM on a 256-bit memory bus. For AI workloads, it offers 1531 TOPS and 96 TFLOPS FP16 performance. According to AMD, this can offer up to two times improvement in performance when engaging in LLM tasks using models such as DeepSeek when compared to older AMD cards like the Radeon Pro W7800, and up to five times more than the consumer 16GB RTX 5080.
The AMD Radeon AI Pro Creator card displayed during Computex used a 12V 2×6 power connector, with a TDP of 300W. AMD also showed images of four of these cards installed in a single server system. The output consists of four DisplayPort connections, which are likely to use the 2.1 interface standard.

The Radeon AI Pro R9600 is scheduled to launch in July 2025. The majority of models will be custom models produced by AMD board partners, such as the ASRock model above, on display at Computex 2025. No price has yet been confirmed, but previous Radeon Pro cards have seen prices roughly around the $1,500 mark.
