Since AMD released the Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 series processors in August, we have been awaiting its new X870E and X870 motherboards with AM5 sockets, and it looks like they are already being put their paces.
Asus is one of the major manufacturers to roll out a few X870E and X870 motherboards. In fact, the company also went a step further and tested out one of the new motherboards with the flagship processor – the Ryzen 9950X.
Ryzen 9 9950X overclocked to 7.55 GHz with the new ASUS motherboard
To showcase the overclocking capabilities of their new ROG Crosshair X870E HERO motherboard, Asus overclocked the Ryzen 9950X, which is the high-end processor from the new lineup.
For this, SAFEDISK and ELMOR, who are Asus’ in-house overclockers, teamed up and set up the Crosshair X870E HERO motherboard. In addition to the new motherboard and processor, the setup also included LN2 cooling. The 16 cores were enabled, but SMT was disabled. The multiplier was set to x75 with a voltage of 1.025V.
With this setup, the Ryzen 9 9950X processor was overclocked to 7548.68 MHz and set records on 7-Zip, Geekbench 3 Multi-core, HWBOT x265 4K, Cinebench R20, and Cinebench R23 benchmarks.
Benchmark | Results |
7-Zip | 321970 MIPS – Global 16x CPU rank #1 |
