AMD’s brand-new flagship Ryzen 9 9950X3D is already being scalped on eBay, following launch

Table of Contents
Earlier today, we saw the launch of the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D, two new additions to Team Red’s Ryzen 9000 series lineup. These become the second and third X3D chips this generation, following the hugely popular Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The flagship 9950 model saw the most coverage when reviews dropped yesterday, and demand has immediately been high.
We’ve already seen the card struggle to stay in stock at popular retailers such as Amazon, causing price hikes by third-party sellers. That trend has continued on marketplaces such as eBay, with the high-end processor being listed for as much as $1,200.

Ryzen 9 9950X3D is being listed on eBay for hundreds more than MSRP
The first thing to understand is that the 9950X3D has an MSRP of $699.99 and launched today (March 12th) at 9 AM EST. Based on what we saw across several popular hardware retailers, the recommended pricing was honored, and people were happily picking up the new flagship CPU at its advertised price; the same can’t be said for recent GPU launches.
In any case, the stock didn’t last long, and now, a quick search on eBay reveals that people are selling their brand-new chips for more than $1,000. We even spotted one listing as high as $1,200.
Despite plenty of these sellers boasting high reputation scores, we’d recommend biding your time and waiting for restocks. As we saw with the 9800X3D, stock slowly but surely returned to the market, and prices started to stabilize. On top of that, you don’t have to deal with the same kind of pricing variation you get from GPUs with all their long list of partner models.
AMD previously said it is “blown away” by X3D processor demand and has ramped up production in response. We hope to see these efforts translate to more Ryzen 9000X3D stock across all three SKUs moving forward.
