AMD’s flagship Ryzen 9 9950XD remains difficult to find without having to pay way too much
Table of Contents
AMD has been enjoying a bunch of success lately. While its Radeon series GPUs have seen some ups and downs, the Red Team's Ryzen CPUs, especially those with the X3D suffix, have remained the go-to choice for PC gaming enthusiasts for a few years now. However, the popularity surrounding AMD's X3D chips has become too much for the tech giant to handle, as much like the 9800X3D, its current flagship is also struggling to stay in stock.
Team Red has been quite open about the overwhelming demand for its X3D gaming processors, and while it’s doing its best to ensure availability, there is still a lot to cover. We have already seen the Ryzen 9 9950X3D being scalped on eBay shortly after launch, but even after two months on the market, the chip continues to be out of stock at major retailers like Amazon and Newegg, and if you do manage to spot it in stock, you can expect to pay hundreds over MSRP.

Still nearly $200 more than MSRP
Over on Amazon, the 16-core processor is currently listed for a whopping $895, nearly $200 above its $699 MSRP. What's even more interesting is that, despite the inflated price, the listing has sold over 1,000 units in the past month, highlighting just how much enthusiasts are willing to pay for an X3D CPU. The situation is quite better at Newegg, where the chip is listed for just $50 above MSRP, but the bad news is that it's currently out of stock with no immediate signs of a restock.
That said, as we saw with the 9800X3D, stock slowly but surely returned to the market, and prices started to stabilize. We can expect to see a similar situation with the 9950X3D, but it's definitely going to take some time. On top of that, unless other CPU players like Intel come up with a real answer to AMD’s X3D tech, the demand for these CPUs will only keep rising. For now, we’d recommend biding your time and waiting for restocks.
