AMD’s latest GPUs favored in popular retailer’s top-seller list, Nvidia’s most popular card is two generations old

When it comes to buying graphics cards, many people (in the U.S.) turn to popular online stores like Amazon and Newegg. As a result, these stores also give us a clear idea of which GPUs are selling the most. On Amazon, it’s clear that Nvidia is still the top choice for many. But over at Newegg, the story is slightly different.
On Amazon, the RTX 5070 led the sales chart last month; Nvidia’s mid-range option in the latest RTX 50 series. Out of the top 10 best-selling GPUs on Amazon, only two were from AMD. However, on Newegg, the list looks different. Six out of the top 10 best-selling graphics cards are from AMD, which is a big difference compared to Amazon.
The RTX 3060 is holding the number one spot, which isn’t a massive surprise. It’s an affordable and reliable card that many gamers continue to choose, despite being two generations old – especially as the 4060 and 5060 that followed it don’t offer a massive native performance boost, and feature less VRAM. But right behind it, in second place, is AMD’s RX 9070 XT. This is one of AMD’s newest GPUs, and it comes with 16GB of RAM. The current-gen RX 9060 XT has also proven popular.

- GPU: Navi 48 XT
- Stream Processors: 4,096
- VRAM: 16GB GDDR6
- Memory Bus Width: 256-bit
- Base/Game/Boost clock speed: 1,660/2,400/2,970 MHz
- TBP: 304W
It’s a strong mid-range graphics card that can easily handle modern games, especially at 1440p resolution. We also reviewed the RX 9070 XT and found it to be a solid mid-range GPU. The RX 9070 XT was also the fourth best-selling GPU on Amazon last month, so seeing it rank even higher on Newegg isn’t surprising.
No high-end card is in the top 10 on Newegg. The RTX 5090 appears in 15th place, followed by the RTX 5080 in 18th. There also isn’t any RTX 40-series card in the top 10. In fact, they aren’t even in the top 20. However, this could be due to stock-related issues, or PC enthusiasts might simply be opting for the RTX 50-series instead. In any case, it’s great to see AMD performing well on Newegg. We also saw their cards being sold more than Nvidia on Mindfactory, a German retailer.
