The RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 were announced back in April, with the Ti cards getting the release date the day after, on the 16th, and the non-Ti coming a month later on May 19th. In comparison, the RX 9060 XT was announced at Computex and comes out on June 5th with some high hopes and expectations for it.

Considering no one really wanted the RTX 5060 cards on launch, now it’s no surprise to us that plenty more gamers are going to be choosing AMD, according to a recent poll. Deciding between the RX 9060 XT or RTX 5060 Ti and non-Ti, an overwhelming majority chose AMD’s budget graphics card.

In this poll, at the time of writing, from over 600 votes, 80% of the voters picked the 9060 XT. That’s over 500 deciding AMD’s upcoming card is the choice for them, with an additional 5% deciding they might wait for the unconfirmed RX 9060. As for Nvidia GPUs, 13% picked the RTX 5060 Ti, with only 2% going for the RTX 5060.

Why gamers prefer AMD GPUs

In recent times, it seems as though Nvidia has dialled down its gaming business (though CEO Jensen Huang reminds us that GeForce is still loved). Even as its gaming revenue jumps to new records, it’s overshadowed by its AI business, as that easily becomes the dominant revenue stream for them.

You can also argue that’s the case with all the driver issues in recent releases that have plagued the launches, even for those choosing to spring for Team Green’s graphics cards. Historically, it’s been Team Red and Blue that have struggled, but now Nvidia’s woes have really set in, and the effects have been seen.

Including their pricing choices. Not even looking to the top end with cards even reaching four digits, the low-end budget cards certainly don’t feel like they are. Providing no great specs for an expensive price has been difficult, especially with 8GB of VRAM still being chosen even when it is struggling to run modern games.

AMD has managed to provide a competitive alternative and has shown its prowess. The RX 9070 XT reviews showed its prowess and ability to be a valid option as it improved in the areas where it wasn’t so strong. So now seeing that success, it’s expected that the RX 9060 XT is going to be as good an option. With some great pricing and leaks of its performance, it is likely to be the top choice of a card.

The RTX 5060 received little fanfare at Computex, but the RX 9060 XT was one of AMD’s key announcements, where they compared it favorably versus the 8GB RTX 5060 Ti. The buzz in this poll, of course, should factor in that the 9060 XT is still a few days from release; we should note this poll has been running for a couple of weeks now.
