The Intel Arrow Lake processors and accompanying Z890 motherboards have been revealed. We've been seeing glimpses of these LGA 1851 boards for a while; now all the major players have launched their lineups. They’re not out yet, but you can pre-order a Z890 motherboard ahead of the October 24th release date.

We have the MSI Z890 lineup and the previously seen ASRock motherboards, which include the Taichi Aqua with ten USB-C ports. There was also a leak that showcased improved memory for ASRock's Z890 motherboards, and it didn't stop there.

What's new with ASRock Z890 motherboards?

According to a post by 188号 (@momomo_us), ASRock has added a “Gaming OC Preset Function” for its entire Z890 lineup. This includes the following boards:

  • Z890 Lightning WiFi
  • Z890 LiveMixer WiFi
  • Z890 Pro RS WiFi
  • Z890 Pro RS WiFi White
  • Z890 Pro-A
  • Z890 Pro-A WiFi
  • Z890 Riptide WiFi
  • Z890 Steel Legend WiFi
  • Z890 Taichi OCF
  • Z890M Riptide WiFi
  • Z890 Nova WiFi
  • Z890 Taichi
  • Z890 Taichi AQUA
  • Z890 Taichi Lite
  • Z890 Nova WiFi

Since these boards are still on pre-order, they should (presumably) be up to date by the time they arrive. However, if not, and if you want more performance out of your system, you can update the BIOS for an easy overclocking feature. On the other hand, ASRock does say: “If the system is working properly, we recommend keeping the current BIOS/firmware”.

Another factor to note is that this BIOS update is currently in the beta version so it might be better to wait for the final version after all the issues, if any, have been ironed out. That said if you still want to update your motherboard's BIOS, follow the ASRock BIOS Upgrade Instructions.
