This long after the actual release of the graphics cards we wouldn’t expect this much variation in models. We’ve previously seen a V2 coming out, where the board might have changed or the cooling improved. But now the ASUS RTX 4060 Dual is onto its third version. Although there doesn’t seem to be much variation in the cooling or the boards it’s very unusual to see just cosmetic changes to the card as it seems a bit unnecessary or wasteful.

We did review the RTX 4060 but it was the ASUS ROG model instead with a much higher size and cost compared to the Dual models. These are instead focused on being small and compact instead. Which is also more compliant with Nvidia’s SFF program. It also keeps down to two fans while also keeping the cooling capacity intact.

ASUS Dual V3 changes

It was only the original model that came in at 2.5 slots, whilst the subsequent ones including the V3 now are just dual-slot. They also keep the two-fan design but it seems to have downsized the ones installed, minimizing the size of them. Along with going for a more stealthy design without too much going on, as now the fan side has a bit less on it keeping it without any drawings or shapes just keeping things simple. This may also be influencing the design of the next-gen as the RTX 50 series release date is expected to be coming in Q4 of 2025.

The GPU is also keeping the same boost clock as the previous versions, with a 2,535MHz boost for the OC model, and a 2,490MHz for the non-OC variant. Both of these are still above Nvidia’s reference specs and according to ASUS the highest official factory overclock applied through GPU Tweak software.
