“Badly needs driver support” Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 performance on AMD GPUs remains behind Nvidia
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was released last week on all platforms, including PC. However, many AMD GPU users are facing performance issues as AMD did not release game-ready drivers before it was launched. Both Nvidia and Intel released new drivers to make their GPUs work better with the game, but AMD users are reportedly still stuck with older drivers.
Outdated AMD GPU drivers are causing performance issues in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
TechPowerUp recently tested the game and shared benchmark results. The numbers clearly show that AMD GPUs are not performing as well as they should. The best-performing AMD card in the test was the flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX, which is a high-end GPU designed for 4K gaming with 24GB of VRAM. Despite its power, it delivered 143.2 FPS at 1080p. This is a disappointing result because the RTX 4070 Ti 12GB from Nvidia, which is a weaker GPU, managed 144.2 FPS. The RTX 4070 Ti Super did even better at 151 FPS.
This is an obvious problem because the 7900 XTX should be competing close to the RTX 4080 Super, not the 4070 Ti. The issue seems to be not the hardware itself but the lack of proper driver support from AMD. In the images below, you can check out the benchmarks shared by TechPowerUp, which cover 1080p, 1440p, and 4K.

The problem isn’t just with AMD’s top-end cards. The Radeon RX 7800 XT, which is supposed to be similar in performance to the RTX 4070, is actually losing to it. Worse yet, it even falls behind the RTX 3080, a GPU that is now four years old, another sign that outdated drivers are holding back AMD’s performance.
AMD users have every reason to be frustrated. Their GPUs have powerful specifications, but without proper software support, they cannot perform at their full potential. The lack of an optimized driver update for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is leaving many players disappointed, with one saying the game “badly needs driver support“. And with no driver support here just yet, we might be waiting for the release of the RX 9070 series before it arrives.
