First off, it’s super easy to use. You just plug it in via USB and then you’re ready to go. The light has three modes, and features a backlight, which also helps to reduce eye strain by lighting up any way behind your monitor. The big winner for me is the smart controller wheel that comes with this. It feels really well made with a good amount of heft, and allows you to control the brightness and warmth of the light on the fly. Thanks to it being stepless, the lighting changes in a very smooth, non-jarring way, which is very pleasant to look at.
I didn’t use it on a curved monitor, but it is compatible, largely because the ‘clamp’ area isn’t that wide. As far as what it did for my eyes on those long, winter days working into the night, it really helped. Sometimes I’d actually use it with a colder light temperature if I want to be more alert, which worked well for me too. With a warm light bathing over your keyboard and desk space it does make your space seem more like study nook or library space – which I personally loved.
Overall, as far as monitor lights go, this is up there with the very best and does make a real difference to your working space. It is a little expensive even at the discounted rate, but I do think it’s worth it if you’re working from home for extended amounts of time – especially if you’re working into the night.
