Discord is one of the most popular communication platforms among gamers, thanks to its fantastic set of features, blowing away the go-to software before its time, like Teamspeak or Mumble. Developers, companies, YouTubers, and more also have their Discord channels through which they can communicate the projects they are working on, share updates, and just keep in touch with the community.

So, it isn't surprising that there is plenty of customization available on Discord, and now the platform has introduced its own in-app currency, which you can spend to get various items from the Shop.

Get Nitro and other items with Discord Orbs

Discord has introduced Discord Orbs, which you can earn by completing Quests. There are two types of Quests: Play Quests and Video Quests. In the former, you'll have to play a game for a certain amount of time, or you might be asked to stream a game to at least one friend, but for both of these, you'll need the Discord Desktop app.

In Video Quests, you'll just have to watch a video on the Desktop or browser app, and after you've done that, you can claim the Orbs to spend in the Discord Shop. Now, the question is, what can you get with these Orbs?

In the Shop, you can navigate to the Orbs Exclusive tab and buy whatever you want, as long as you have the right amount of Orbs. As for the options available, you can purchase Nitro Credits, a profile badge, special Avatar decoration, and a special profile effect.

The most useful of the bunch are the Nitro credits, which will give you access to Discord Nitro for a limited amount of time, and the neat aspect is that the Orbs don't have a time limit. They will remain in your account till you use them, but you can't share them with friends, so there are certain limitations. Regardless, this is an easy way to get your hands on Discord Nitro as you’re already playing games and watching a video won’t take long.

Right now, Discord Nitro Basic will set you back $2.99 a month, while the full package, which is needed for HD streaming up to 4K 60 FPS and further customization, is $9.99 per month. So, it’s nice to see an alternative to forking this out each month, no matter how much quest grinding it requires.
