If you've ever wanted to turn your ROG Ally into a dual-screen device, well, you can. We’ve seen this a couple of times before, and there’s yet another way, thanks to a creative user named JIMCOO on Cults3D.

They have designed and shared a 3D-printable mount that lets you attach a second display to your ROG Ally. The idea is simple, but it can help transform your device into a dual-screen handheld.

3D-printable mount to attach a secondary screen to the ROG Ally

This setup uses a 3D-printed mount that attaches a secondary display right onto the ROG Ally. To make it work, you'll need a specific external screen and a case for the ROG Ally. The creator originally used a UPERFECT 7-inch computer display, which offers a resolution of 1024×600 but can accept up to 1080p input. It's a compact IPS LED screen that's often used for Raspberry Pi setups and other portable projects. The screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio, built-in speakers, and multiple input options like HDMI and USB.

However, according to the creator, this particular screen might not be available for sale anymore. It was previously listed on Amazon, and while you might be able to find it elsewhere, it could take some searching. Even if you don’t, you can opt for some alternate screen instead, which has the same specifications. The case used to hold the ROG Ally in place is still available online, and the user also used a basic HDMI hub to connect everything. This hub fits nicely and helps with the connections between the Ally and the second screen.

To build the full setup, you'll also need a few basic hardware items like M3 screws. Shorter screws are used for the back cover hinge, while longer ones are needed for the main hinge that holds the screen. JIMCOO also added two washers on each side of the main hinge to reduce friction and make the movement smoother.

For printing, PETG filament was used to ensure the parts are strong and durable. The most important part, the main hinge, was printed standing up so that it wouldn't snap or crack under pressure. This makes the entire build feel more stable when in use.
