Though the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT has not yet launched, it seems reviewers have managed to get hold of one and run it through a series of benchmark tests. Though not definitive, it at least provides some clues as to what level of performance can be expected from AMD's latest card.

The benchmark figures are found on Geekbench and relate to the 16GB version of the RX 9060 XT, rather than the cheaper 8GB model. The tests cover both OpenGL and Vulkan, though it should be noted that synthetic benchmarks like Geekbench do not always give a reliable picture of real-world gaming performance.

RX 9060 XT versus the 5060, 5060 Ti, and 7600 XT

The RX 9060 XT 26GB scored 109,315 in the Geekbench 6 OpenCL test and 124,251 points in the Vulkan API test. The test rig used an AORUS X870E Master motherboard and an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU. These specifications and the timing suggest that someone with an early review sample submitted these test figures.

What these numbers show is that the RX 9060 XT is around 25-30% faster than the RX 7600 XT. When compared to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB, it does worse in the OpenCL test when compared with the RTX 5060 OpenCL score of 123,883. However, it outperforms the RTX 5060 in the Vulkan API test, with the RTX 5060 managing only 118,299.

AMD claims that the 9060 XT is, on average, 6% faster than the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB for gaming at 1440p Ultra. In these synthetic benchmarks, the card is notably slower than the 5060 Ti (which no doubt includes many results from the 16GB model).

RX 9060 XTRX 7600 XTRTX 5060RTX 5060 Ti
OpenCL Score109,31583,313123,883138,869
Vulkan API Score124,25199,223118,299133,861

It must be reiterated that these are not gaming benchmarks, as Geekbench tests do not take into account DirectX, ray tracing, or how well it plays with upscaling or frame generation technology. However, it can provide some indication of the performance gap on cards of the same generation.

While we wait for reviews to emerge for the RX 9060 XT, it will be possible to build a clearer picture of the performance of this GPU and how it fares against its competitors.
