Entry-level Intel Core Ultra CPU finally reappears at online retailer, but it’s still not ready to launch
Table of Contents
Intel’s entry-level desktop CPU lineup continues to raise questions, as the Core Ultra 3 205 has once again appeared at an online retailer. This is not the first time the processor has shown up on a store page, and that is exactly what makes the situation interesting. Despite multiple sightings over time, the CPU is still not officially available in most markets.
Intel has already released most of its Arrow Lake desktop processors. Core Ultra 5, Ultra 7, and Ultra 9 models are easy to find and widely sold across major retailers. However, the Core Ultra 3 series has yet to be released. While Intel has never denied the existence of the Ultra 3 lineup, its availability has been strange and very limited so far. Team Blue also seems to be gearing up to release an Arrow Lake refresh, as new ‘Plus’ models have been leaked online, too.
Intel Core Ultra 3 processor gets listed online
This time, the Core Ultra 3 205 was spotted at a German retailer called Industry Electronics. The store listed the CPU at €148 (€176 with VAT included). When converted, that puts the price roughly between $170 and $200. That is quite surprising, especially when you consider that more powerful Core Ultra 5 CPUs are already selling for much less after price drops.
To put things into perspective, Intel’s Core Ultra 5 225F, which sits higher in the product stack, is currently available for around $150 to $160. Seeing an entry-level Core Ultra 3 listed above that price is surprising. This is not the first time pricing has looked odd, either. Earlier, the same processor appeared at a French retailer for around €129 before tax, which still felt high for what is meant to be a budget CPU.

The Core Ultra 3 205 is designed to replace Intel’s Core i3 series. It targets entry-level gaming PCs and budget systems. Based on earlier leaks and listings, the CPU uses an 8-core design with a mix of 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. It comes with 15MB of L3 cache and clock speeds starting at 3.8GHz, though boost speeds lift this spec on both core types. On paper, it should offer better performance than older Core i3 chips, especially in multi-core workloads.
Because of that, many expect the Core Ultra 3 205 to land in the $120 to 130$ range. That would make sense for budget builders and first-time PC users. At that price, it could be a solid upgrade over previous-gen Core i3 CPUs. Anything higher than that makes it hard to recommend, especially with stronger Ultra 5 options already available.
Even though the German retailer allows the CPU to be added to the cart, it is still listed as out of stock. This suggests it may be a placeholder or pre-order listing rather than a final launch.
