A new tool called the AMD GPU Profile Manager, created by user Mikhail on X, is getting attention for all the right reasons. It gives AMD GPU users more control over FSR 4, even in games that AMD hasn’t officially enabled it for. While AMD still decides which games are FSR 4-ready through their drivers, this new tool gives users a way to bypass that limitation.

FSR, or FidelityFX Super Resolution, is AMD’s upscaling technology. It boosts your game’s performance and makes visuals look better by rendering frames at a lower resolution and then scaling them up using smart techniques. With the latest version, FSR 4, AMD has taken things even further by improving image quality, frame generation, and responsiveness. It’s great for people who want high performance in demanding games without losing visual sharpness.

Whitelist FSR 4 in games that are still waiting for an official driver

But the thing is, FSR 4 isn’t automatically available in every game. AMD has to manually add support through driver updates. This means players often have to wait months, or longer, before they can try the newest version of FSR in their favorite titles. However, the new AMD GPU Profile Manager changes that. With this tool, you can edit GPU settings and force FSR 4 in games that already support FSR 3.1, even if AMD hasn’t approved them yet. Not too different from Nvidia’s DLSS 4 Override program.

There’s also a community-made list showing which games are confirmed to work with this method and which aren’t. It’s a helpful resource, especially since results can vary from game to game. While this tool is a great option for users, it’s not meant for everyone. If you play online games with anti-cheat systems, it’s better not to use the GPU Profile Manager. Changing game profiles might trigger those systems, which could get you flagged or banned.

In any case, here’s a list of games that the manual whitelist workaround is confirmed to be compatible with so far:

  • Battlefieldâ„¢ 6 Open Beta
  • FINAL FANTASY XVI
  • FlipScapes
  • Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Prypiat – Enhanced Edition
  • Splitgate 2 Beta
  • The First Descendant
  • Titan Quest II
  • War Thunder

If you want to see more, YouTuber Ancient Gameplays recently showed how the tool works. First, you need to enable FSR 3 in the game, either before launch or inside the settings. Then, using the GPU Profile Manager, you can override the default profile and try enabling FSR 4. The tool basically tricks the AMD driver into thinking the game is supported. As long as the game doesn’t crash or bug out, you’ll get a performance boost. Maybe not as good as what official support would provide, but it’s something.
