If you want to get more performance out of an Intel Arrow Lake CPU without risking your warranty, then the Intel 200S Boost is a good option. Now, a new RAM maker has joined the list of manufacturers benefitting from the new overclock options.
RAM manufacturer G.Skill announced on Twitter/X that it will now be supporting Intel 200S Boost. This system allows for overclocking using pre-configured profiles for Arrow Lake processors.
Intel 200S Boost is here to boost G.SKILL RAM performance
Intel processors have been struggling in performance when pitted against AMD's Ryzen chips, especially AMD's X3D class of CPUs. The Intel 200S Boost system has been shown during tests by Tom's Hardware to grant an average of 7.5% performance improvement. Best of all, these overclocking features are covered under Intel's 3-year processor warranty for additional peace of mind.
The post by G.Skill specifies that users need three things to enable the BIOS overclock profile:
- An updated Intel Core Ultra 200S series CPU
- A supported motherboard using the Intel Z890 chipset
- A compatible G.Skill memory kit of up to DDR5-8000
If these requirements are all met, then the 200S Boost option can be enabled in BIOS settings, then Save and Exit to reboot the PC, and the overclocking boost will be engaged. This will raise several frequencies across the processor, including support for faster memory.
Since this set-up does require a specific motherboard, processor, and memory configuration, only a limited number of users will be able to utilize this new overclocking mode. However, as Intel rolls out 200S Boost, it is likely that more manufacturers will enable support. For instance, Gigabyte Z890 motherboards also have the performance boost option, which was rolled out via BIOS update a short time ago.
