Gears of War: Reloaded is now Steam Deck Verified
If you check the Steam page for Gears of War: Reloaded, you'll see it is marked as Verified. This means that players can expect all features of the game to work well on the Steam Deck. The controls will be fully functional with the Steam Deck's built-in buttons and touchpads, and the default graphics settings should provide a smooth experience without the need for any extra tweaking.
For those who might not know, Steam has a special verification system designed to help users understand how games perform on the Steam Deck. Games are tested and given one of four ratings: Verified, Playable, Unsupported, or Unknown. Verified means that the game works perfectly out of the box with no issues. Playable means that the game works but may require some tweaks or adjustments for smooth performance. Unsupported means the game doesn't run well on the Steam Deck. And Unknown means the game has not been tested yet.
However, while this is great news, it's important to remember that Valve's verification system isn't always perfect. For example, when Spider-Man 2 was released on Steam, it was also given the Verified badge. But once players tried it on the Steam Deck, many reported performance issues like frame drops and stuttering, which made Valve change its rating to Playable instead.
Optimized for PC & Handhelds: In addition to stunning remastered visuals, Gears of War: Reloaded also delivers PC-first features such as ultrawide support, a benchmark mode, variable refresh rate, mouse and keyboard support, FSR3.1 and DLSS3.5 Super Resolution support as well as controller remapping.

So, in the case of Gears of War: Reloaded, it may be verified now, but we'll have to wait and see how it actually performs when more people start playing it on the handheld. Still, the fact that the developers have promised it is “optimized for PC & handhelds” does give hope that this remaster will deliver a solid experience for both PC and handheld gamers. It promises up to 144 FPS support, but we’ll have to wait and see if the Steam Deck performance can meet that target.
