Triple-fan thermal design for superior cooling
Three high-performance fans paired with a large heatsink provide powerful and quiet cooling. This ensures that your graphics card maintains optimal temperatures during extended gaming or creative work.
Zero Frozr technology for silent operation
When temperatures are low, the fans stop completely, eliminating noise when active cooling is unnecessary. Fans automatically resume spinning as heat increases during gaming, maintaining perfect balance between performance and silence.
FUSE: strengthened defenses against electrical damage
Additional fuses built into the custom PCB provide extra protection against electrical issues, safeguarding your graphics card from potential damage.
Reinforced backplate with airflow vent
The reinforced backplate not only adds rigidity but also features a dedicated airflow vent, allowing hot air to pass through directly and further enhancing cooling efficiency.
Performance expectations and why we like this Nvidia GPU deal
We have tested two RTX 5070 models, the MSI Gaming Trio and the ASUS TUF. That gives us an insight into the performance to expect from the MSI Shadow 3X, as although this is not exactly the same model, the base 5070 is. So there is likely a slight difference, but it should give you a good idea, as seen in the graphs below.
In general, though, the RTX 5070 is an impressive mid-range graphics card. Bringing with it 1440p level performance, even pushing 4K. So it’s a rather powerful card, with 12GB of VRAM and PCIe Gen 5 connectivity that should last you a while yet with the latest and future releases. That is particularly helped with the DLSS 4 and Nvidia improvements onboard that can push it beyond its ability as well.
That all comes below the rather high MSRP, one of our drawbacks in reviews of the 5070. So dipping below makes it a slightly more appealing choice right now. You can see the price history below from CamelCamelCamel, and even though it’s not at the lowest, it is a low price to take advantage of before the Black Friday sales.
