GPU reviewer reveals the best mid-range cards in 20-game benchmark test

Table of Contents
Buying a graphics card is currently a very expensive business. With prices soaring and the threat of further price hikes for US customers looming, many consumers are looking to get the most bang for their buck. Helpfully, a reviewer has posted the results of an extensive benchmark test, which shows which mid-range GPU is the best buy, stats-wise.
German tech blogger and reviewer PC Games Hardware posted the results of a comprehensive benchmarking test. These tests took the averages of 20 different games. These were tested in both 1080p and 1440p using pure rasterisation, with no upsampling or ray tracing.
Best GPU around €500 according to the stats
This particular post highlighted four graphics cards that are currently on the market, priced at roughly €500, putting them at the lower end of the mid-range. One of the highlighted cards was a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB with overclocking enabled.
Despite a good showing from the overclocked RTX 5060 Ti, the top of the pile for €500 cards was the Radeon RX 7800 XT, with a score of 42.6. The aforementioned RTX 5060 Ti with overclocking came next, scoring 41.1. The previous generation RTX 4070 managed to outperform the unmodified RTX 5060 Ti 16GB by a considerable margin.
GPU | Score |
---|---|
Radeon RX 7800 XT | 42.6 |
RTX 5060 Ti 16GB Max-OC | 41.1 |
RTX 4070 | 40.8 |
RTX 5060 Ti 16GB | 35.6 |
Despite only the overclocked variant surpassing the RTX 4070 in rasterisation performance, the team at PC Games Hardware nonetheless says that they can give a clear recommendation for the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB.
Older cards are becoming increasingly hard to find as old stock dwindles, so the reasonably priced RTX 5060 Ti might be a good model for those on a budget, especially if they are comfortable with overclocking. Notably, no mention was made of the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB model, however, which remains unpopular.
