Nvidia GPU users are once again running into problems with new games. Just a few days ago, players using RTX 40 and 50-series cards reported poor performance in Elden Ring Nightreign. Now, another game seems to be facing similar issues. This time, it’s Hell is Us.

We recently tested Hell is Us on the Steam Deck, and it’s safe to say that it’s not the easiest game to run right now. If you don’t already know, Hell is Us is scheduled to release on September 4th this year, but its demo is already out on Steam, giving us a chance to do some performance tests. However, the developers have officially confirmed that the game is crashing during the opening cinematic for some players.

Hell is Us developers confirm crash issue with RTX 40 and 50-series cards

The team explained that they are aware of the issue and are actively investigating it. According to them, the crash seems to mainly affect users with Nvidia's RTX 40 and 50-series graphics cards. While they work on a permanent fix, they've also offered a temporary solution to help players get past the crash.

Reduce graphics settings and stay away from upscaling and frame gen

The developers suggest lowering your graphics settings before starting the game. From the main menu, players should reduce all graphics settings and turn off upscalers. This should help prevent the game from crashing during the intro video. Once the cutscene ends and players take control of the main character, Remi, it should be safe to turn the graphics back up again.

The good news is that this crash only happens during the cinematic. Once you're in the game, things seem to run fine. But it's definitely frustrating for those excited to jump into the game’s demo, only to be met with a crash right at the start. The developers have apologized for the inconvenience and promised that a proper patch will be released soon, most likely before the full game is released in September.

This problem adds to a growing list of recent games that have been facing issues with the latest Nvidia cards and their drivers. Even prior to Elden Ring Nightreign, RTX 50-series users were also facing issues in DOOM: The Dark Ages. Hopefully, Nvidia and game developers can work together to fix such issues soon, as they are ruining the gameplay experience of many.
