Key features of this MSI MAG QD-OLED gaming monitor
Display
This monitor features a QD-OLED display, which is essentially an enhanced version of OLED. It’s 4K and 31.5 inches, which is one of the best sizes to make the most out of the resolution. In terms of brightness, as with most OLEDs, it’s not quite as punchy as something traditionally back-lit, but it still comes in at a respectable 250 nits. Color and contrast are fantastic; however, this dispaly boastsing 99% DCI-P3 and a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification.
Gaming performance
You’ve got a 165Hz refresh rate here, which is on the middle to upper end of what you’d find in most premium 4K monitors. There’s also a very low 0.03ms response time, which helps to reduce blur and ghosting, alongside assisting with tracking opponents and fast-moving objects on screen. In terms of adaptive sync, this monitor has AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which earns its ‘Pro’ title by being very capable of handling HDR gaming, eliminating screen tearing, and helping provide an overall smoother experience.
Design and special features
MSI’s OLED Care 2.0 is seriously impressive, and it combines physical, heat-dissipating features, like a graphene sheet, with advanced technology that can identify, predict, and adjust brightness to areas where burn-in could occur. For example, it can detect where static on-screen menus are and adjust its settings accordingly. On top of that, this monitor is fully adjustable, so you can find the optimum viewing position for you, and it’s got a small base, which frees up desk space. Add that to a wide range of ports, including USB-C with 15W power delivery, and you’ve got everything you need.

Considerations and alternatives
As with all OLED monitors, the big consideration is whether it’s going to be bright enough for you. In short, mini-LED monitors are the way to go if brightness is high up on your list, as they usually hover around 600 nits typically. The only trade-off is that their contrast isn’t quite as good, and you can get a bit more blooming and haloing, which isn’t great for high contrast scenes. That being said, they’re also typically cheaper, so it may be a trade-off that’s worth it depending on your budget.
