Ever since Samsung announced their new Odyssey gaming monitor line-up back at CES 2024, we’ve been eagerly awaiting more news regarding their next-gen displays. Not much has been made official regarding the release date for the new 2024 models, but a huge price drop for one of their older displays could be a sign of things to come.
Right now, the original Odyssey G9 is getting a large price reduction on Amazon, Best Buy, and direct from the Samsung store. Now less than $800, this ultrawide monitor offers excellent value for money and is a cost-effective upgrade to a massive 49-inch monitor.

This new price slash again matches the lowest-ever price of the Odyssey G9, which is $799.99 according to price tracking website Camelcamelcamel. This makes for a 38% discount and a whopping $500 off the usual asking price of $1,299.99. While this is now an older version of the G9 flagship, it still holds up as a fantastic choice for anyone looking to upgrade to a super ultrawide 32:9 aspect ratio display.
We’ve seen both Neo G9 and OLED G9 models supersede it since launch, but we’re sure that some of you may have been waiting around to score a good deal on an older monitor. Now’s the time to do so – the price history graphs shows that we’re again at the lowest-ever price for the Samsung Odyssey G9. Considering the big price drops as of late, we could speculate that the 2024 version is soon on the way and this older stock is now being cleared out.
What’s the latest model?
The G9 has been Samsung’s flagship of the Odyssey gaming monitor range for a few years now and the latest innovation is the OLED G9, which is getting a refreshed model in 2024. Speaking of, Samsung recently celebrated a milestone for shipping numbers of QD-OLED panels, of which the OLED G9 is included.
It will also be using the 49-inch form factor with a dual QHD resolution, with the biggest difference of course being the more premium QD-OLED panel instead of the VA one used here. With it expected to cost much closer to the $2,000 mark at release, the $799.99 price right now makes the original look like a steal.
