What is it like using the Razer Viper Ultimate?
I got my hands on the Razer Viper Ultimate a year ago, and at first, I was skeptical because I had never used a wireless mouse before, and I loved my Glorious Model O. I also only play competitive shooters like CS2, Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, Battlefield 4, and 2042, so I needed a mouse that would keep up with the intense action. However, my Model O was failing me, and it was getting frustrating.
So, I started looking for the best mouse for large hands and the fingertip grip style, and I saw the Razer Viper Ultimate pop up more than once. I wasn’t sure if a wireless mouse would be a good fit, as latency issues while you’re in a life-or-death fight in a game are the last thing any gamer wants, but after researching and reading up on performance reviews, I made a leap of faith and got it.
The first thing I noticed was how light it was, which was exactly what I wanted. The Model O is 67g, and a heavy mouse is a deal breaker for me. The mouse’s ambidextrous shape and textured grips made it comfortable to hold and ensured that it wouldn’t track off during flicks or rapid movements.
It came with a 2.4 GHz dongle that you can store inside the mouse, and I’m glad that I haven’t experienced any delay or latency issues during work or gaming. The response time is almost instantaneous because as soon as I left-click, the player on the other side loses the gunfight, and that is precisely what I wanted.
A great aspect of this mouse is that it can also be used as a wired mouse. It comes with a wireless RGB charging dock that syncs with other Razer components, but if something goes wrong with the dock, you can charge it directly with the wire. That said, I can take the Razer Viper Ultimate anywhere without worrying about its battery failing on me, as I’ve used it for 3 or 4 days daily on a single charge.
It also has a neat charging level indicator. The dock and the logo on the mouse pulsate when it charges; depending on how much it is charged, the color changes. Here are the colors and their respective changing level:
- Green static: Chargin 100%
- Green breathing: 76-99%
- Yellow breathing: 51-75%
- Orange breathing: 25-50%
- Red breathing: <25%
It also has five stages for sensitivity settings with a dedicated color and smart tracking, through which you can set the mouse’s cutoff point. I have that setting at 2mm, while the lowest and highest points are at 1mm and 3mm, respectively.
Should you get this mouse?
Overall, this is a great mouse for any competitive player. However, since it only has a small RGB logo and the clicks aren’t loud, you can also use it in the office without raising any eyebrows. I got this mouse for $100 but if you can get it for $74.99, I would highly recommend this.
