Intel starts to make its mark in new GPU sales stats with the Arc B580, just ahead of B570 release

It’s safe to say that Intel had a rough time in 2024. First of all, CPU instability issues were found to be affecting both its 13th and 14th-generation processors. That was followed by a lackluster launch for its Core Ultra chips, including the flagship Core Ultra 9 285K. It was handily outperformed by AMD’s competition, specifically for gaming with the 9800X3D.
Then, to top things off, we saw the retirement of its CEO. However, at the very end of the year, we got a fantastic budget graphics card from them: the Intel Arc B580, which we had high praise for in our review. This will be followed up by the release of the B570 this week (on the 16th), and new sales stats from German retailer Mindfactory reveal that the B580 is helping Intel get at least a bit of a foothold on the dGPU market.

GPU sales show decent results for the Intel Arc B580
Since Intel is relatively new to the discrete GPU market, it has never been a massive contender versus the likes of AMD and Nvidia. In fact, based on stats from late last year, its impact was practically nonexistent. Now that the B-series (Battlemage) Intel Arc GPUs are here, we’re starting to see a little bit of action from Team Blue. When it was released in December, the B580 was selling out, with its 12GB VRAM and 1080p/1440p results at the $250 price point being an obvious reason why.
According to sales stats between January 6 and January 12 from large German retailer Mindfactory, posted by TechEpiphany on X, Intel sold 105 GPUs in total, making for a 4.66% share. AMD is actually on top with 55.21%; the remaining 40.13% goes to Nvidia. As expected, the B580 is the best seller for Arc with 70 units (the same as the RTX 3060 and just ahead of the RX 6650 XT).
GPU (top 10) + Intel Arc series | Units sold (Mindfactory) |
---|---|
RX 7800 XT | 415 |
RTX 4070 | 270 |
RX 6750 XT | 170 |
RX 7900 XTX | 140 |
RTX 4060 | 140 |
RTX 4070 Ti Super | 110 |
RX 7900 XT | 110 |
RX 7600 XT | 110 |
RTX 4060 Ti | 100 |
RTX 4070 Super | 90 |
Intel Arc B580 | 70 |
Intel Arc A750 | 15 |
Intel Arc A770 | 10 |
Intel Arc A380 | 10 |
Now that we’ve seen Nvidia launch its new RTX 50 series (at least down to the 5070), there is still no contender for B580’s price bracket, and AMD hasn’t disclosed the pricing of its new RX 9000 series either. So, for the time being, the B580 looks like one of the best-value GPUs on the market.
We’ll have to see how this continues once we know more about the RTX 5060 series as well as AMD’s new cards, but some movement for Intel is a nice start to 2025. Don’t expect them to take the majority any time soon, but we remain positive about the Intel Arc range for the budget PC builders out there.
