We think it’s safe to say that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been a massive hit. It has been enjoying a healthy playerbase since launch and reception to the game has been positive. It even runs pretty well on a wide range of hardware, from Valve’s Steam Deck handheld to the GTX 1060 (albeit the latter needed FSR to pass 60 FPS in our testing).

Another aspect of the game, at least on PC, is the modding community. Just a day after its release, we could already find over 40 mods uploaded online and that number has now grown into the hundreds. So far, many mods focus on tweaks or optimizations – but we should be getting a whole lot more soon as official modding has now been confirmed.

Official modding is coming to Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Official Modding is Coming to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II‘ according to a recent Steam blog post. Not much more has been revealed yet, but it’s nice to see that the developer Warhorse Studios, is embracing the modding community just over a week since the game launched. The blog post reads as follows:

“Bohemia is about to get even more exciting – official modding support is coming to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II on Steamworks! Stay tuned for more details on how you'll be able to create, tweak, and expand your medieval adventure.”

With official support often comes official modding tools, and these will be vital for people to create much more elaborate mods than what is currently possible. The original game had its official modding tools posted to Nexus Mods, so we expect something similar this time around – though it would be nice to see them integrated directly on a platform like Steam.

If you want to start customizing your KCD2 experience on PC, a couple of our favorite mods so far include this optimization mod for entry-level GPUs and a limited HUD mod which helps add a layer of immersion to the gameplay you might be missing.
