Exfil’s early access went live on December 12, 2024, and since then, thousands of players have jumped into the game to try out the upcoming mil-sim. However, the early access isn't free, which is why many are hesitant to purchase the game, as early access versions are usually full of bugs and glitches. That said, if you've been planning to try the game, you can play it for free – but there are only a few hours left.

Few hours left to play Exfil for free

The shooter, made by one of the acclaimed developers of SQUAD, puts comms and teamwork to the test. You’ll fight across six handcrafted maps featuring dense forests, industrial zones, and military camps. There’s even a 24-hour day/night cycle and fully simulated weather.

At the time of writing, you have just six hours left to try the game for free. We’re unsure if there will be another free session, but if there isn’t, you’ll have to opt for the early access – which costs $23.99 right now thanks to a discount ($29.99 without a discount).

Exfil currently has a ‘Mixed’ rating on Steam, but don’t let that put you off. As the game is still in development, there will be a load of issues and tweaks that will need to be addressed. That being said, anything made by anyone involved in SQUAD is absolutely worth looking at. Exfil was released on early access at the tail end of last year. Don’t expect the game to be perfect as it’s in an early access state, which is why we think the free trial is the way to go.. for now. If you enjoy the game during the free trial, you can simply buy the early access at the mentioned price.
