We’re still waiting for more official news on the Lenovo Legion Go 2. So far, it’s expected to launch as soon as September this year, at least according to a LATAM representative on social media. The sequel to the Legion Go was first showcased at CES 2025 at the very beginning of the year, with a list of specs for the prototype at the time. And now, people have gotten hold of it early.

Benchmarks for the Legion Go 2 are starting to surface online; it was only last week when an engineering sample was leaked online, closely resembling the specs that Lenovo advertised at CES – including an OLED screen. More videos are now surfacing on the device, and one benchmark shows even better performance than the recently launched MSI Claw A8.

A couple of new videos of the Legion Go 2 show the device torn down and benchmark performance. The first we spotted shows off an engineering sample with some testing done in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Using the same ‘medium’ configuration at 20W power and 1680×1050 resolution, the Go 2 reportedly averages 40 FPS, which is lower than the Claw A8’s 49. However, it should be pointed out that the new Legion Go lacks official drivers, considering it is yet to be released.

Another video from Lines Tech provides further comparisons of the Go 2 versus MSI’s Claw A8, which is the first Ryzen Z2 Extreme-powered handheld to hit the market. The Go 2 will also likely feature the Z2 Extreme processor. Using the in-game benchmark tool for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the Legion Go 2 averaged 49 FPS at 1080p with 7,710 frames rendered. In comparison, the MSI Claw A8 managed 44 FPS with 6,751 frames rendered using the same settings, which is around a 10% difference.

Like we said, the Legion Go 2 is expected as soon as September. We still don’t know when the MSI Claw A8 will be released in the U.S. – it is already widely available in China and Europe. Later on in the year, we’ll see the release of the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, the latter of which also features a Z2E chip. They are coming during the holiday season, but rumor has it they’ll be ready to pre-order as soon as Gamescom in August.

Considering they all use the Z2 Extreme processor, they should have similar performance. The Legion Go 2, however, has one extra trick up its sleeve – an additional 8GB of RAM (up to 32GB, versus 24GB).
