Legion Go S SteamOS edition sees pre-order delays, “outside of our control” says Lenovo rep

The Lenovo Legion Go is a fine handheld and a worthy competitor to the Steam Deck. Though some users and customers believe it is hampered by the use of Windows as its operating system. As such, many customers leapt at the chance to pre-order the SteamOS version of the Lenovo Legion Go S. However, some are in for a disappointment as pre-orders for some customers have been delayed.
Some customers took to Reddit to complain about the delay. Most affected customers had placed the pre-order with Best Buy. One such customer was u/Hefty-Scientist_5273, who posted an email from Best Buy saying: “This item is still delayed. We're continuing the work on shipping it to you within the next few days.”
Lenovo responds to delayed customer woes
After a few other users confirmed they had also received similar emails, a Lenovo representative commented to explain the current situation.
User u/BenM_Legion is a Lenovo representative on the Reddit Legion Go subreddit, and he had this to say: “Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of our control (and Best Buy’s), we weren’t able to get the full preorder supply delivered in time to support the 5/25 ship date,” he explained, “We should have all of the Z2Go/512G/Steam and Z1E/32/1TB Windows volume covered (already or about to ship) and about two thirds of the Z1E/1TB/Steam units covered. The remaining supply is in transit, arriving approximately a week or two later than planned.”
Ben further said that the Lenovo team was aware of the negative publicity this could generate, but said many teams were actively working to expedite the process. Furthermore, customers affected by the delay, whose orders were delayed by more than two days, will receive a gift card and an apology for the inconvenience.
While the situation is not ideal for pre-order customers, at least Lenovo appears to be taking the situation seriously and taking steps to rectify it.
