LEGO has made a 1:1 scale Nintendo Game Boy, and you can pre-order one right now
If you love classic video games and building things with LEGO, here’s something you’ll be interested in. LEGO has just revealed a brand-new set that lets you build a full-size replica of the original Nintendo Game Boy, and it looks almost exactly like the real thing.
The LEGO Game Boy is a 1:1 scale model, meaning it’s the exact same size as the Game Boy that first came out in 1989. This is not a mini version or a shrunken-down display. It’s designed to match the real thing in size and shape, which makes it feel extra special for those who remember playing Pokémon, Tetris, Super Mario Land, or whatever else on the original console.
LEGO paid a lot of attention to detail when designing this replica. The curved edges, the d-pad, A and B buttons, and even the volume and power switches are all recreated using LEGO bricks. It also comes with stickers to add the correct labels and logos, including the “Nintendo Game Boy” label that sits below the screen.

While the LEGO Game Boy may look just like the real one from 1989, it’s important to note that this set is purely for display and collecting. It does not play actual Game Boy cartridges, and it doesn’t have any electronic parts. Instead of a working screen, LEGO includes three lenticular screen options. These are special printed pieces that show different images depending on the viewing angle, giving the illusion of motion. You’ll also get mini Game Pak cartridges, which slide into the back of the LEGO Game Boy for added realism.
The LEGO Game Boy is priced at $59.99 USD, and it includes 421 pieces in the box. For those interested, it is now available for pre-order through LEGO’s official website and Amazon. However, do keep in mind that it won’t ship until October 1, 2025.
