Lenovo Legion Go ‘ergonomic faceplate’ mod solves one of the console’s biggest problems

Table of Contents
The Lenovo Legion Go is a handheld with a lot to recommend, but some users have noted issues with the ergonomics of its controllers. One Redditor has set out to solve this problem by using ingenuity and some 3D-printed parts – resulting in a more comfortable ‘hand feel’ for anyone who takes on the challenge of modding their console.
For some users, particularly those with larger hands, the controller setup for the Legion Go is less than optimal. Some users have reported the controllers digging into their hands due to the angular shape. Reddit user Intelliaim turned to 3D printing in order to resolve this persistent problem with a handheld device they were otherwise satisfied with.
The redesigned controller faceplate (created by Ikp2024 and Arcanazen) changes the design of the controller so the bottom half has a more curved design, making it more comfortable to hold during longer gaming sessions. Though the textured surface is simply a product of the 3D print bed, it also helps users to grip the device.

Lenovo Legion Go mod is tricky to install, but worth it
This mod is not recommended for beginners, however. In response to a comment, Intelliaim explained that the mod was quite tricky to install and required a high level of confidence with micro-soldering and disassembly.
The Legion Go has a lot of complicated electronics packed into a very small space, so the risk of damaging your expensive handheld is very real if you do not know exactly what you are doing every step of the way. A slip of the hand could result in stripped screws and broken posts at best. At worst, you've just irreparably damaged the mouse pad or controllers.
Those who are still interested can find the 3D print files for the faceplate and D-pad modifications on Thingiverse, made by Ikp2024 and Arcanazen respectively. There is also a full assembly video that shows the entire process of disassembling the Legion Go and installing the mod. You can also upgrade the D-pad with these Xbox-tailored alternatives.
Those less confident in their skills can perhaps just wait and hope the Lenovo Legion Go 2 offers a design that is a little more forgiving.
